Mª Carmen Hidalgo de Caviedes y Gómez
-God's will, her life-
SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Mother MªCarmen Hidalgo de Caviedes y Gómez was born in Madrid on 3 September 1913.
On 20 July 1936, during the bombing at the "barracks de la Montaña", she
experienced the interior power that moved her to offer herself “pro eis” –
for the priests – as she understood the importance and urgent need for holy
priests in order to celebrate the Eucharist and reach the souls.
On 25 April 1938 she committed herself together with José Mª García
Lahiguera to found a completely contemplative congregation to prolong
Christ’s priestly prayer: “Pro eis, ego sanctifico meipsum” (Jn 17).
Mother MªCarmen founded several monasteries across Spain. With incessant
zeal, she instilled the Congregation with the specific profile of the
Oblata: continuous prayer and oblation. The Eucharist, centre of the
existence. The big gift of being “God’s family”, united by Christ’s charity
and a tender and filial devotion to Virgin Mary.
Totally dispossessed and magnetised towards God, consummanted her oblation,
in the peace and joy of the Saints on 1 February 2001.
