OBLATE SISTERS OF CHRIST PRIEST

The Congregation of Oblate Sisters of Christ Priest was founded in Madrid in 1938. Their founders, José María García Lahiguera and Maria del Carmen Hidalgo de Caviedes y Gómez, deeply felt the need of holy priests within the Church and strongly perceived Christ’s heartbeat in the consummation of his sacrifice.
Within this completely contemplative congregation, the Oblates live entirely surrendered to God, “in the solitude and silence, in the incessant prayer and austere penance”.
PRAYER is the ceaseless occupation of the Oblate, either with the praise to God through the liturgy, with the silence of her mental prayer or with her daily duties.

The SPIRIT OF OBLATION is the distinctive of the Congregation. By her profession, the Oblate is specially linked to Jesus Christ Priest. Her offering, together with the redemptory sacrifice of Jesus Christ, turns into concrete reality and continually lived through the progressive configuration to Christ poor, virgin and obedient unto death on a cross.

All this, in the modest and joyful common life that, in a spirit of solitude and silence, gives the Oblate the constant occasion to practise virtues, in particular, humility and charity for the Community to form only one heart and only one soul, merged into a same spirit and same love, namely Christ.
