Their Vocation

Music and Voice by Oblate Sisters of Christ Priest

Within contemplative life, the Congregation of Christ has a very specific aim that is the rationale of her origin and birth. This charisma, received from the Holy Spirit, is to spiritually cooperate for the sanctity of priests and candidates to priesthood. The founders perceived the heartbeat of Christ expressed in the Last Supper when, aware that His life was coming to an end, He addressed His Father with the priestly prayer (Jn 17); and express his love and preoccupation to the apostles: “Father, I pray for them and, for them I give myself, consecrate in the truth. The Oblate feels this beating and offer herself with the intention that the whish of Christ will become true in the Church and the world.

“The soul of the Oblate shall go beyond the wall of her monastery and cut through the seas until the last corner in earth with the same love as Christ is present, with His same Redemptory Love (…). From her hidden life, “hide with Christ in God”, with no self-, offering all herself in oblation “pro eis et pro Ecclesia”, knows how to die, is envelop of the Heart of Christ so that “He loved them to the end” reaches the last place in earth. And that lost missionary, unknown in his mission; that unappreciated priest; other who is in danger; the one who is full of expectations but without opportunities; (…) All that world of priests, man among men, segregated to be another Christ where He may deposit His own power. What does the Heart of Christ feel? He made them “another He” and only Christ shall be their life and exigency. And they are not immune, because, not belong to the world, they are inside. They have to be in the world but being of God; they have to give themselves to the souls keeping their permanence only in God. That world of danger, fight, difficulties, temptation, pressure, undefined road….”

THE VOCATION OF THE OBLATE

By her proffession, the Oblata joins Christ Priest in a very special way. Her offering, together with the redemptory sacrifice of Jesus Christ, gradually becomes a concrete reality and continuously lived for the progressive configuration to Christ poor, virgin and obedient unto death, even death on a Cross.
